Given that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is still only a few months old, it is far too early to talk about its successor, the Galaxy S22 Ultra. We don’t know a whole lot about the smartphone yet. However, Weibo leaker Ice Universe just shed light on some mind-blowing Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra specifications, including a never-before-seen camera system. It will use a modified version of a periscope lens that allows for greater flexibility in the optical zoom, tentatively called Continuous Optical Zoom. The feature can offer a wide range of magnification, between 3X and 7X, to Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra users.
Samsung seems to have developed the entire mechanism in-house. This is likely to address the zoom issues presented by traditional periscope lenses. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 Ultra had less-than-stellar zoom prowess, which paled in comparison to the likes of some high-end Huawei and Xiaomi smartphones.

Ice Universe also talks about other exciting Samsung Galaxy S22 features, such as an under-screen selfie camera. The technology isn’t particularly new, and ZTE even beat Samsung to the punch by launching the world’s first smartphone with an under-display selfie camera. Rumour has it that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, too.
Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra could also ship with an AMD mobile GPU. Samsung and AMD have been working on it for quite some time and is rumoured to be significantly faster than the Adreno 660. It will make its debut alongside a new Exynos 2200 chipset.
