Comparing the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variants of both smartphones, the iQOO7 is almost Rs 8,000 cheaper compared to the OnePlus 9R. That is a huge difference giving the iQOO 7 an edge over the OnePlus 9R. However, we also need to look at the specifications before we conclude anything.

iQOO 7 vs OnePlus 9R: specifications

Display

The iQOO 7 features a 6.62-inch screen, whereas, the OnePlus 9R comes with a 6.55-inch display. Screens of both smartphones feature AMOLED technology, a 120Hz refresh rate, and support or HDR10+. While the specifications of both displays are similar, there is one major difference. The screen of the iQOO 7 has a centre-aligned punch-hole and that of the OnePlus 9R has a corner punch-hole.

Processor and software

As mentioned earlier, the iQOO 7 as well as the OnePlus 9R feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. This chipset can handle heavy tasks and graphics-intensive games without breaking a sweat. The iQOO 7 and the OnePlus 9R also come with multi-layer cooling systems to keep the chipset temperatures in check. The two devices are available in 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB variants to suit everyone’s needs. So, in terms of performance, the iQOO 7 and the OnePlus 9R seem to be equally good, at least on paper.

On the software side of things, the iQOO 7 and the OnePlus 9R come with the Android 11 operating system. While the OnePlus 9R features the OxygenOS 11, the iQOO 7 has Funtouch OS.

Camera

When it comes to imaging, the iQOO 7 has a 48MP primary camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. Unfortunately, the primary camera of the iQOO 7 cannot record 4K/60 fps videos. The OnePlus 9R features a 48MP primary sensor with OIS, just like the iQOO 7. However, it comes with a 16MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. Plus, the OnePlus 9R can also record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. The selfie cameras of both smartphones are 16MP units with Full HD video recording.

As you can see, the OnePlus 9R not only has a higher resolution ultrawide camera compared to the iQOO 7 but is also more capable when it comes to recording videos. Therefore, the OnePlus 9R beats the iQOO 7 in terms of imaging, at least on paper.

Battery

The iQOO 7 features a 4,400mAh battery, whereas, the OnePlus 9R packs a slightly larger, 4,500mAh battery. While the iQOO 7 comes with 66W charging speed, the OnePlus 9R features 65W charging. Connectivity

The iQOO 7 and the OnePlus 9R support two SIM cards, 5G connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The OnePlus 9R additionally comes with support for Wi-Fi 6 and it also has a USB 3.1 Type-C port as opposed to the slower, USB 2.0 Type-C port in the iQOO 7. While these two features don’t make a huge difference, they do give the OnePlus 9R a slight edge over the iQOO 7 in terms of connectivity.

The iQOO 7 as well as the OnePlus 9R feature an in-display fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers.

iQOO 7 vs OnePlus 9R: verdict

The iQOO 7 and the OnePlus 9R are neck and neck when it comes to performance and battery life experience. While the OnePlus 9R beats the iQOO 7 at imaging, software experience, and connectivity options, the iQOO 7 comes ahead in terms of display. So if you purely consider the specifications on paper, it a close fight between both smartphones.

However, the price is where the things get interesting. The iQOO 7 is Rs 8,000 more affordable compared to the OnePlus 9R. So, this means that the iQOO 7 is lighter on your pocket while offering features similar to that of the OnePlus 9R.
