Honor Play 9A budget smartphone has been unveiled in China alongside the mid-range Honor 30S. It is the successor to the Honor Play 8A and brings some noteworthy upgrades to the table. The Honor Play 9A has a fingerprint sensor for security and dual rear cameras at the back, both of which are upgrades from the predecessor. There is a waterdrop notch at the front to house the selfie camera and a unique gradient design. The Honor Play 9A also touts a 5,000mAh battery and a 6.4-inch HD+ display with slim bezels.

Honor Play 9A is priced at RMB 899 for the 4GB + 64GB model and RMB 1,199 for the 4GB + 128GB variant. The handset comes in Black, Blue, and Jasper Green colour options and is already available for order in China.

The Honor Play 9A sports a 6.3-inch HD+ display with 1,600 × 720 pixels resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC coupled with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB storage options that is further expandable via microSD card. The phone boots Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1.1 custom skin on top. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS + GLONASS.
As for the optics, the Honor Play 9A is said to pack a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots. There is an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The Honor Play 9A has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and a 5,000mAh battery with no support for fast-charging.
